CIARA ADAMS
Ciara's journey as a vocalist and performer is a fascinating blend of traditional training, personal transformation, and holistic integration. Beginning her formal vocal training at the age of 12, she pursued the rigorous Royal Conservatory of Music examinations during her teenage years, laying a strong foundation in classical music. Her passion for performance led her to study Opera as a performance major at Queen's University, followed by further specialization in classical acting and performance at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, England.
Despite her extensive training and successful performing career, Ciara encountered a significant challenge: vocal fatigue. This physical strain was compounded by the mental and emotional pressure she placed on herself to deliver "perfect" performances. Recognizing the toll that perfectionism was taking on her voice and well-being, she sought a new approach to her craft.
In 2007, Ciara began working with Fides Krucker, a renowned Canadian singer and voice teacher known for her innovative Emotionally Integrated Voice technique. This mentorship marked a turning point in Ciara's career, transforming not only her relationship with her voice but also her approach to teaching and performance. Krucker's method emphasizes the connection between emotion, body, and voice, allowing performers to access a more authentic and sustainable vocal expression.
Ciara has since deeply integrated Krucker's teachings into her own practice, both as a performer and as a voice teacher. She combines the Emotionally Integrated Voice technique with her 23 years of professional experience, her exploration of mindfulness practices, and her studies in sound healing and vocal toning. This holistic approach allows her to guide her students not only in technical proficiency but also in cultivating a deeper connection to their voices as instruments of emotional and spiritual expression.
Ciara's journey reflects a shift from rigid perfectionism to a more embodied, mindful, and emotionally aware approach to vocal performance and teaching. Her work continues to evolve, blending classical training with contemporary, holistic practices while also honouring and interweaving her Celtic and Irish heritage in her to support the growth and well-being of her students and herself as an artist.
